Students make sculptures for Avila Art Show

The Avila Art Show is an exhibition for art students to display their work at a higher college level, Art students at the high school level have an opportunity for their artwork to be displayed and potentially win awards for their pieces.
To enter the art show the art teachers must choose students pieces to be entered. From there they take pictures of the art-work and send them to Avila to be accepted into the art show. If a students art piece wins they can either win a certificate of recognition or a scholarship to Avila. The Avila Art Show is important to the art students because there are not very many art shows in the Kansas City area.
Head of the art department Laura Richardson says that they enter students into the art show “to validate their work” and “to show how good our art students are.”
