Recalling childhood memories, Scott Backovich speaks to the school about dealing with difficult situations.

The high school had the once in a lifetime opportunity to listen to Scott Backovich, a nationally known speaker and promoter of anti-bullying campaigns and speeches. Backovich visited the school to talk to students about ways that bullying can be prevented, and stressed the importance that it starts not with a speaker, but with the person who wants to make the change.

“I started speaking professionally when I was 17 years old. I went to an event where they just asked me to go on stage and talk, and I fell in love with the idea of talking to people and helping them, and that’s why I’m here today,” Backovich said.

Backovich uses his work as a way to help students around the nation. From grade schools to high schools, Backovich has talked to them all, and enjoys spreading his message to students everywhere. Backovich does not just talk about how to prevent it, he also talks about past experiences he has had within his family.

“There was one incident I had when I was in high school. My dad was a teacher and coach at the school I went to. I got in an argument with this kid and he ended up starting a page online trying to get my dad fired for bogus reasons, so that is one experience I remember,” Backovich said.

Standing up and being a voice for students everywhere, Backovich travels and speaks for four months at a time, averaging 32 states within that time. Backovich strives to help the students he meets and make a difference in lives in all fifty states.
