This year’s freshman class is packed with talent, and we’ve gathered some fun facts about a few standout students. From athletics to music, these students bring a lot to the table, and we’re excited to see how they make their mark.
The first female candidate is Journee Arthur. Arthur, a cheerleader for the school’s squad, Arthur has been involved in student council since the 6th grade, showing early leadership skills. She used to be a competitive gymnast, and her older brother was a star on the football team. When asked what her theme song would be, Arthur chose “I’m a Believer” from Shrek, reflecting her optimistic spirit.
The next female candidate is Presley Smith. Smith is a dancer and musician, she has already recorded her own song! Smith was a cheerleader during her 8th-grade year and is now a prowler for the school. Her older sister shares her passion, also being part of the prowlers. Smith’s theme song is “Pink Skies” by Zach Bryant, showing her creative and musical side.
The final queen candidate is Jillian Cole. Cole is a JV cheerleader who has danced for most of her life. Her mom is a photographer who captures the excitement of school football games. Cole’s theme song is “Eyes Without a Face” by Billy Idol, hinting at her classic, edgy style.
The first of three king candidates is Tristin Chatmon. Chatmon is a multi-talented athlete and performer. He plays football for both the varsity and JV teams and was undefeated in wrestling last year. In middle school, Chatmon even took the stage in Matilda as Nigel. The next male candidate is Dane Burns. Burns, who is a versatile athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and track. In middle school, he was a two-way football player, a shooting guard in basketball, and ran the 100m and 400m in track. His theme song is “Lil Top” by NBA Youngboy, representing his confidence and ambition.
The final candidate for the freshmen is Rowan Teale who is looking forward to playing basketball this year after a multi-sport middle school career that included baseball and football.
