Congrats to speech and debate

At the MSHSAA District tournament for Speech, Debate, and Theatre, each school is allowed to take one entry in each event (the district consists of about 30 schools who actively compete) with the top four places qualifying to the state tournament next month. Here are the state qualifiers:
- Dramatic Interpretation – Tevin Chavez, 1st place
- Humorous Interpretation – Ian Van Horn, 2nd place
- Storytelling – Ella Schnake, 1st place
- Duet Acting – Tevin Chavez and Alec Heriford, 2nd place
- Prose Interpretation – Bailey Martin, 2nd place
- Duo Interpretation – Larissa Wratney and Jillian Humke, 4th place
- Policy Debate – Jaden Lanza and Brendan Lucas, 1st place
- Public Forum Debate – Trevor Turner and Jacob Scott, 3rd place
- One Act Play – Rabbit Hole, 1st place
- Readers Theatre – Animal Farm, 1st place
The state tournament is April 11-13.
These students advanced to district finals, but not to state:
- United States Extemp – Katie Clewell, 8th place
- Poetry Interpretation – Jessie Philips, 6th place
- Lincoln-Douglas Debate – Julie Garibay, 4th place
