The school’s dance team, the Prowlers, have become very successful this season with awards ranging from competitions to nationals in Florida. The Prowlers team was granted the amazing opportunity to compete in nationals this season. With the help of many talented freshmen, the Prowlers were led to great success this season.
The lead up to nationals was stressful and eventful for the athletes. They had numerous hours of training and preparation for this very exciting event they had coming up. Athletes had to go to practices and be locked in for the entire lead up. With the level of competition that the Prowlers were committing to, they went into training on their off days, and more practice than usual during the weeks. Adilynn Stock is an amazing freshman who had the opportunity to be apart of the squad this season.
“When preparing for nationals we were working super hard and having at least three practices a week. We also put in extra work such as practicing on the weekends, and on Monday’s that we had off. We spent a lot of time polishing off all of the little things to make our dances look the best they could,” said Stock.
Becoming a freshman on a team competing at the national level is a superb role to have. The freshman selected worked very hard to get to the places they have taken themselves. With a large amount of practice and training not only in practice, but on their own time, these freshmen reached the top. Brylee Kent is another freshman who’s talent arose and led her to being apart of varsity.
“I felt so thankful to be at nationals and to be a part of the team. I was very proud of myself because I put in so much effort and hard work to be there,” stated Kent.
Special bonds have been created on this team in and out of practice. Having a special bond with someone can uplift the spirit and make practice a happier and healthier community to be in. When you get to experience these bonds at an event like nationals for the first time, the feeling can become unmatched. Stock also speaks on this.
“I have created a huge bond with junior Brecklyn Findley. I didn’t know her when I was going into Prowlers, but after I got to know her she became a huge role model to me. She has guided me through so much throughout my freshman year,” said Stock.
The team had a good amount of time to bond with one another while in Florida. There were planned out days and many activities for everyone to become involved in. With this time that the team got to spend together, they had the chance to become even closer to one another than they already were. Lilliana Streeter, a freshman, also used her amazing talents to shine on this team.
“The team had become quite close during the season and most of us knew each other from other dance classes. When we were in Florida we had the chance to bond at the pool and the beach. It felt calming and fun to connect more with the team and not have everything focused on the competition,” said Streeter.
Something had to lead these talented freshmen to the point that they are now. The love for dance each one of them possesses is so strong and something that everyone looks for in their teammates. They are committed and always willing to learn. These girls also deeply appreciate how far their beloved sport has brought them. Kent now elaborates.
“I have danced since I was little, and I fell in love with it. I love the fact that I can make so many friends in this sport and everyone is so welcoming. One of my favorite parts about dance is the huge adrenaline rush I get every time before I perform. I have life long memories and best friends because of this sport, and I am forever grateful,” said Kent.
The Prowlers had a great run at the competition. They were brought so much success, and all of their hard work shone through. The Prowlers had never been this successful any season, so the feelings these freshmen got to share with this team was magical. Streeter touches on this feeling.
“It feels amazing, our success brought me and the team so much joy. We made Prowler history, and I couldn’t be more thankful to be a part of that amazing experience and team,” said Streeter.
With our Prowlers working insanely hard to lead themselves to this moment, they held our school in their hearts and made us proud. These girls created history, and none of it could’ve happened without the help of the many talented freshmen a part of this team.
