Baseball season is starting up and players and coaches are excited. Sophomore Camron Leftwich and junior Derek Beauchamp talk about what they are most looking forward to this year. Varsity baseball coach Gary Renshaw explains why he loves being the head baseball coach and the group of players he has this year.

Renshaw has been the varsity coach for 21 years, it was always his dream and he is going to live it out.

“ I grew up playing baseball from about the age 8 all the way through college I just enjoy playing the game and I played here at Ray-Pec and it was always my dream to come back here and coach here,” said Renshaw.

Renshaw feels like he has a good team this year and is excited about this years season.

“ The group of players I have I feel like they’re a really good group of kids a lot of them have been with me for a lot of years and looking forward to this year season hoping for a good one,” said Renshaw .

Sophomore JV catcher Camron Leftwich is going into his second year with the team. Camron is excited with the group of guys they have this year.

“ We got a lot of good players and we have a pretty funny group of guys that are fun to play with so it should be a good season,” said Leftwich.

Junior varsity shortstop Derek Beauchamp is ready for his 3rd year on the baseball team and playing with his friends.

“As you get older it becomes more fun because you get to play with more of your buddies because they are up there with you,” said Beauchamp.

As the season gets ready to start players and coaches are looking forward to their year. The team will be hoping for good year.
