The Raymore Peculiar High School Theatre Department is pleased to announce its upcoming musical comedy, Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance. Performances of the show will be in the Ray-Pec High School Theatre February 4th, 5th, and 6th at 7:30 p.m. and February 7th at 2:30 p.m. Tickets may be reserved by calling the box office line, 892-3999 extension 2400. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. Free babysitting will be provided.
The Pirates of Penzance is a musical comedy about a bumbling group of pirates and their young charge Frederic. Upon turning 21, Frederic decides it is time for him to hang up the pirate sword and become a respectable gentleman. As the pirates attempt to bring him back into the fold, there are confrontations with keystone cops and romantic entanglements with the Major General’s lovely daughters. First performed in New York in 1879, this classic from the brilliant Gilbert and Sullivan has entertained young and old alike for over a hundred years. Set on a pirate ship as a play-within-a-play, The Pirates of Penzance is good fun for the whole family.
The cast includes Nick Schneider as the Pirate King, Alie Gillespie as Mabel, Valiante Waltz as Frederic, Julienne Graebner as Ruth, Ian Fleming as the Major General, Malone Blaich as Edith, Cami Bessette as Kate, Lacey Duley as Isabel. Appearing as pirates are Noah Ball, Michael Berry, Chad Byous, Maggie Carlson, Logan Daniels, Courtney Farr, Parker Hauptmann, Brooke Kelly, Noah Martin, Jordan Miller, Brayden Roberts, Stefania Smith, Jeffrey Sykes, Nate Thurman, Jesse Turos, Natalie Van Horn, Audrey Warters, and Dominique Williams. The Major General’s Daughters are played by Becca Bessette, Tayler Bates, Katie Clewell, Rylie Eatinger, Haleigh Fuller, Kiara Galloway, Kylie Hansen, Mady Quest, Kelley Shanahan, Song Waltz, Devyn Phillips, and CeCe Moss. The police are played by Erin Beauchamp, Marlo Blaich, Isabelle Burton, Chad Byous, Taylor Felz, Lucas Hagelin, Jasmine Nissanka, Will Reicher, Jonathan Sedano, Emma Snider, Matt Stewart, Savannah Taylor, and Jesse Turos.
Working behind the scenes are Todd Schnake as the director, Roxanne Martin as the music director, Karla Penechar as the scenic designer and technical director, and Pam Schnake, Kay Connelly and Michael Connelly as production assistants. Also providing assistance is Katie Turnbow. The student assistant directors for The Pirates of Penzance are Riley Linn and Karissa Krueger. The stage managers are Riley Linn, Becca Nyman and Jonathan Terry. The sound engineer is Aaron Fuller. The master carpenters are Aaron Fuller, Rebecca Nyman, Andrea Shaw, and Jonathan Terry.
