The enjoyment of button making
October 7, 2015
To sophomore Dylan Massey being in the art club and making buttons is something he finds fun to do. He is there mostly every Monday or sometimes Tuesdays to make buttons for charities and scholarships.
“They like art and want to raise money for scholarship,” said Art Club sponsor Stephanie Pugh.
When Massey makes buttons it makes them have their own personality. They take information on what the people like and make a button based by the information.
“We make buttons for people who want their own idea because we take their suggestions and make them,” said sophomore Dylan Massey.
Dylan Massey makes buttons because he likes to do graphic design and animation. He enjoys seeing the reaction from people when he makes the buttons. He makes the buttons for that want them and they give him suggestions.
“I like to see happiness from them and love what I make” said Massey.
It takes a lot of work just to make one button. It includes photoshop, stencils, printing, and other steps.
“First take an image from Google or any other search engine then go to photoshop and apply a stencil, then apply image, print out image, cut and apply onto button,” said Massey.
People don’t just wear them on their clothes but they also express their personality with the button.
“Either wear them on their backpacks, on a lanyard or on their clothing,” said Massey.
Whether its for a charity, scholarship, or for other people, Massey makes the buttons because it’s something that is entertaining to him. Button making includes everything that Dylan does normally. Stephanie Pugh also sees that Massey enjoys making buttons and enjoy the art club.
