Changing the Tune

For every successful season, there is a reason behind it. Maybe it is a new coach or maybe it is a rigorous practice schedule. For the marching band, there were many factors that contributed for all their success both as a group and individually this year.

“This year we focused harder and pulled together as a group. It made it more of a group effort so that the whole band won a bunch,” said senior Mandy Snell.

Sophomore Ryan Rushin adds to this perspective as to why he thinks the band did so well from last year to this year.

“We put in a lot of hard work and had encouragement from parents that helped out. Overall people were more into it this year than last year which helped,” said Rushin.

This season was also advantageous to members as individual players, not just the group.

“I came out of my shell. I was able to focus on what I could do to make the group sound better no matter how many silly faces I had to do,” said Snell.

Both performers agree that they see no reason for all of this to be a one hit wonder. With strong underclassmen to act as players and leaders, Snell feels good for the future of the program as she moves on. Rushin sees the band getting better and can find no reason that would come to an end when next year rolls around.Band Success
