Former Royals’ baseball pitcher Jeremy Guthrie has signed to the Texas Rangers and will be missed by the fans.

Guthrie was a sociable team member to the fans. He kept his social media accounts updated about his life.

“He was a fan favorite, because he was very approachable. He was very active on Twitter, even used fans to play catch with him in the off season,” said Royals fan Matt Copeland.

Although Guthrie played an important role in winning the World Series he has made the decision to move to another team. New starting pitcher Ian Kennedy will be taking Guthrie’s place on the Royals team for this season.

“We signed Ian Kennedy who is becoming a really good pitcher,” said Royals fan freshman Seth Wansing.

Not only is the Kansas City Royals losing a player but the Texas Rangers will be gaining a new pitcher.

“Jeremy will be a big help,” said freshman Royals fan Jacob Elliott.

Many think that Guthrie will return but not as a player for the Royals. He would become a coach or assistant to help the team improve their season.

“He has signed in Texas. He may come back as a coach some day,” said Copeland.

Others think that he will return as a player because he likes Kansas City.

“Personally yes because he has the heart of a Kansas City person,” said Elliott.

The Royals’ fans are sad to see Jeremy Guthrie go but are excited for the upcoming season.
