On January 10th, 2016 the celebrity world lost one of it’s most famous stars, David Bowie. Bowie made an impact on musical history with the way he expressing his unique way of life. Even after passing, Bowie’s memory lives on. His memory grew stronger as his fans made various tributes to him with numerous bouquets of flowers laid by a mural of the singer in Brixton, London on the day of his passing.

One of the biggest tributes for the passed singer was made by the well known performer Lady Gaga. At the 58th annual Grammy Awards, Gaga performed in honor of Bowie. From holograms of face paint, to bright orange hair, Gaga danced around the stage singing out Bowie’s most well known songs. Gaga’s tribute was more than it seemed, it was to remind people that Bowie will never be forgotten as long as music lives.

Bowie was not the only one honored in this year’s Grammy show. Lionel Richie was honored by John Legend, Demi Lovato, Luke Bryan, Tyrese, and Meghan Trainor. During Lovato’s part of the performance, after holding out a very long note, the camera showed Richie’s face and he silently mouthed the word “YES”. After the last singer sang their song, Legend pulls Richie onto the stage. Not only was Richie honored to be recognized, the real honor came from the artist singing his songs.

May 14th, 2015 was a hard day for the fans of BB King, as he passed abruptly due to natural causes. This late blues legend was recognized in this year’s Grammys by Chris Stapleton. As Stapleton sang King’s “ The Thrill is Gone” he made everyone remember why King made such an impact on country music. Many believe that the tribute was a great way to remember the late singer.

While remembering some of music’s legends, Michael Jackson was the next one people wanted to remember. It’s been almost seven years since the beloved Jackson has passed. With his memory never leaving the history of music, Miguel performed in honor of the King of Pop. This little tribute had a lot of meaning to those of the musical world. While singing Jackson’s song “She’s Out of My Life” Miguel was joined by Jackson’s original pianist, Greg Phillinganes, to finish the tribute.

The 2016 Grammys where more than just an award show. It was an opportunity to rejoice in the passed singers that will never be forgotten.
